Tropical Cyclone Seth 2022

Last Modified:

Satellite images and tracking maps of Category 2 Tropical Cyclone Seth 2022, December 24 - January 5. Max wind speed 100km/h.

Seth is located 746 km northeast of Brisbane, Australia, and has moved southeastward at 20 km/h (11 knots) over the past 6 hours.

Seth will continue on its current track under the near-equatorial ridge. After 12 hours, a subtropical ridge to the southeast will assume steering and drive the system more southward.

The increasingly unfavorable environment will gradually weaken the system down to 65 km/h (35 knots) in 36 hours. Also, in 12 hours, the cyclone will begin to transition to a subtropical system and in 36 hours, will become fully subtropical with an expansive wind field.

Forecast guidance are in fairly good agreement, lending medium confidence to the JTWC tack and intensity forecast.

Maximum significant wave height is 6.1 meters (20 feet).
