Tropical Storm Mirinae (Gorio) 2021

Last Modified:

Satellite images, weather maps and tracks of Severe Tropical Storm Mirinae 2021, August 3 - 10. Max wind speed 100km/h.

Mirinae (Philippine name Gorio) is located 795 km east-southeast of Misawa, Japan, and has moved east-northeastward at 44 km/h (24 knots) over the past 6 hours.

Satellite imagery shows the low-level circulation (LLC) has become more exposed as the main convection became more asymmetric and sheared further east-northeastward.

The initial position is placed with high confidence based on the exposed LLC. Analysis shows the system has drifted into the baroclinic zone and has begun rapid extra-tropical transition.

It is expected to transform into a gale-force cold core low within 12 hours.

This is the final warning on this system by JTWC. The system will be closely monitored for signs of regeneration.

Maximum significant wave height is 4.6 meters (15 feet).
