Tropical Cyclone Kevin 2023
Last Modified:
Satellite images, weather maps and tracks of Category 5 Tropical Cyclone Kevin 2023, February 26 - March 6. Max wind speed 250km/h.
Kevin is located 1245 km southeast of Suva, Fiji, and has moved eastward at 35 km/h (19 knots) over the past 6 hours.
Satellite imagery shows the system is eroding rapidly as the associated convection is becoming decoupled southeastward and the low-level circulation is now partially exposed.
Continuous dry air entrainment from the west caused significant erosion along the western edges. Examination of the HWRF vertical cross model display shows Kevin is quite tilted and the mid-levels are now void of all moisture.
Analysis shows the cyclone has transitioned into a subtropical system.
This is the final warning on this system by JTWC. The system will be closely monitored for signs of regeneration.
Maximum significant wave height is 9.1 meters (30 feet).
