Tropical Storm Ivone 2025

Last Modified:

Tropical Storm Ivone

Live tracking map, satellite images and forecasts of Tropical Storm Ivone 2025 in the southwest Indian Ocean. Current wind speed 85km/h. Max 95km/h.

Ivone is located 2606 km east of Port Louis, Mauritius, and has tracked south-southwestward at 19 km/h (10 knots) over the past 6 hours. Maximum significant wave height is 9.1 meters (30 feet).

Within the next 24 hours, Ivone will turn southwestward then westward as it tracks along the building subtropical ridge to the south.

After 3 days, the system will recurve southwestward around the northwest edge of the subtropical ridge. Ivone is expected to weaken steadily through the forecast period as environmental conditions deteriorate.

Over the next 24 hours, the robust poleward channel into the subtropical jet will cease, with the STJ weakening and shifting eastward. The system will also track under the leading edge of an upper-level trough, with increasing wind shear (30–35 knots) and a very dry environment. Consequently, the system is forecast to dissipate in 4 days as it begins to recurve.

Model guidance is in fair agreement, with a 296 km cross-track spread at 3 days and a 463 km cross-track spread at 4 days.

The 10/00:00 UTC GEFS and EPS runs show a similar track spread, with the bulk of solutions supporting the dissipation scenario.

Reliable intensity guidance also supports the steady weakening trend and dissipation scenario.
