Cyclonic Storm Ditwah 2025
Last Modified:
Live tracking map, satellite, radar, and forecasts of Cyclonic Storm Ditwah 2025 over Sri Lanka. Current wind speed 65km/h. Max 75km/h.
Ditwah is located 1815 km south-southwest of Kolkata, India, and has tracked northwestward at 11 km/h (6 knots) over the past 6 hours. Maximum significant wave height is 4.9 meters (16 feet).
Ditwah is forecast to track slowly poleward along the western edge of the low-level subtropical ridge building to the east and northeast.
After 4 days, Ditwah is expected to turn northeast as it rounds the northwest edge of the low-level subtropical ridge toward a break in the subtropical ridge.
Due to the track along the coast of Sri Lanka and just east of southeastern India, the system will intensify slowly over the next 2 days. After 2 days, upper-level conditions will degrade, with increasing southerlies and strong (25–30 knots) wind shear associated with a deep upper-level trough digging into the Arabian Sea and India.
The system should dissipate in around 4 days under strong southwesterly upper-level flow. Deterministic guidance is in good agreement on the poleward track over the next 3 days, with increasing uncertainty in the track after 3 days.
The 27/06:00 UTC GEFS and EPS runs show significant uncertainty through the entire forecast period, with the bulk of the guidance supporting a generally poleward track east of the southeast India coast.
Reliable intensity guidance is in good agreement and supports the JTWC intensity forecast with medium confidence.
