Atsani (Philippine name Saudel, Japanese Typhoon Number 21) is located 785 km south-southwest of Iwo To, and has tracked northward at 30 km/h (16 knots) over the past 6 hours. Maximum significant wave height is 3.7 meters (12 feet).

Atsani is forecast to continue tracking generally northward, with a slight north-northwestward turn expected within the next 12 hours.

Atsani will move northeastward in the wake of typhoon Saudel over the next 36 hours, at which point, it is expected to get overwhelmed by the increasingly hostile environment and dissipate. Wind shear is expected to remain between 45–65 km/h (25–35 knots) with persistent dry air entrainment for the duration of the forecast period, quickly weakening the system.
