Invest 95W
Last Modified:
Live tracking map, satellite images and forecasts of Invest 95W in the Philippine Sea. High chance of development. Current wind speed 35km/h.
Infrared imagery shows a broad low-level circulation with persistent convection.
A 02/12:52 UTC ASCAT-C image shows a closed circulation has formed below the persistent convection adjacent to a swath of 45–55 km/h (25–30 knots) gradient winds.
Analysis shows a marginally favorable environment for development with low to moderate wind shear of 30–35 km/h (15–20 knots), dual-channel upper-level outflow, and warm sea surface temperatures of 29–30°C.
Deterministic models show slow intensification over the next 12 to 24 hours, with a northward track toward western Japan. The GEFS and ECENS ensembles also support a northward track toward Kyushu over the next two days.
