Tropical Storm 21W 2022

Last Modified:

Satellite images, weather maps and tracks of Tropical Storm 21W 2022, October 10 - 15. Max wind speed 70km/h.

21W is located 1189 km northwest of Wake Island, and has moved northward at 57 km/h (31 knots) over the past 6 hours.

21W no longer shows characteristics of a tropical system but more of a tropical wave. The initial intensity of 75 km/h (40 knots) is set based of the gradient flow to the east of the wave axis.

Comparisons between the ASCAT-B pass and the ASCAT-C pass show that 21W has opened up from a closed circulation to a wave-like feature. As the models indicated of the past 5 runs, 21W is being absorbed into the more apparent subtropical system (Invest 91W) located to the east-northeast.

Please reference abpw10 PGTW 14/15:30 UTC for detailed information of the aforementioned subtropical system.

This is the final warning on this system by JTWC. The system will be closely monitored for signs of regeneration.

Maximum significant wave height is 4.9 meters (16 feet).
